The California 20, or Cal 20 commonly, continues to be a fun one-design boat on the West Coast and Hawaii. eight fleets enjoy this 20 foot, 2000 pound keelboat. Most of the 1945 hulls were produced in the 60's and offered a unchanging, simple racer at a reasonable cost opposing the expensive development of other classes at the time. Big regattas do not allow spinnakers, though many local fleets use them. Whisker poles keep the jib working downwind making it easy for only 2 people to race in light air.
