The Catalina 22 was the first and longest-running model in the highly successful Catalina Yachts series of keelboats. It can be made with either a swing, fin, or wing keel. First introduced in 1969, in a Mark I run that numbered over 15,000 boats, the Catalina 22 went into a Mark II version in 1995, which is still produced and features a wider beam for a more spacious cockpit. A Sport variant was added in 2004. The Catalina 22 sails with a main and overlapping jib only and can be sailed singlehanded, although it sleeps a family and is raced with two. There are 24 active fleets in the U.S., mostly in the south, from Florida to California. For more information, read the Catalina 22 Wikipedia article.
