RS K6 was designed in 2002 to be responsive and easy to use like a dinghy, and self righting and stable like a keelboat. Paul Handley achieved this with a narrow lightweight hull built in the UK by Rondar Raceboats and has sold about 100. About half the all-up weight (600 lbs) is in the keel so the sailplan is not huge, but extremely efficient. The asymmetric spinnaker launches and douses into a chute and flies on a very long sprit. The self-tacking jib and smaller sails make family sailing comfortable. The K6 fleets race with 2-3 people with fleets in the UK, Europe and a fleet in New York.
